Fruits have been always my first choice as mid day snack but I am hearing a lot from friends that nuts are a better option. Is that correct?

All nuts are mix of omega-3 fatty acids, protein, and fiber that help you feel full and suppress your appetite. The lowest-calorie nuts are almonds (23 nuts ~ 6 grams protein ~ 14 grams fat); Avoid nuts packaged or roasted in oil; instead, eat them raw or dry roasted. Roasted nuts may have been heated in hydrogenated or omega-6 unhealthy fats or to high temperatures that can destroy their nutrients.

Often times fruits and vegetables are the best snack since we don’t always include them in our meals, so snacking on them will help you meet your daily quota. Nuts are good source of protein that will keep your body active during the day. But make sure you use the raw not salted or oil-roasted since they absorb the high amount of fat which has the negative effects on your body.

Nuts are high in fat and calories, so while a handful can hold you over until dinner, a few more can ruin your appetite. Just keep in mind that they’ll quickly become detrimental to any diet when paired with sugary or salty toppings or mixes.
